Scholars from the Department of Logistics Management of Yaşar University’s Faculty of Business Administration, Department Head Prof. Yiğit Kazançoğlu and Research Assistant Yeşim Deniz Özkan Özen have been awarded the Highly Commended Paper Prize for their article “Lean in higher education: A proposed model for lean transformation in a business school with MCDM application” out of thousands of papers at the 2020 Emerald Literati Awards. The Editorial Board of the publishing house noted that the article has been listed among the most distinguished articles published in the Emerald database and therefore deemed worthy of this prize.

In their paper focusing on lean thinking that also bears importance for production management, Prof. Yiğit Kazançoğlu and Research Assistant Yeşim Deniz Özkan Özen proposed a multi-level model where lean management could be used to identify and prevent wastage at higher education institutions, and developed a roadmap for simplifying the institutions and enhancing their efficiency.
